In 1967, with his debut record, Hey Joe, climbing up the UK charts, Jimi Hendrix played at a small RnB club in Darlington. Sometime that evening, Jimi’s black Stratocaster went missing, and it has never been found. Using this actual event as a starting point, James Vasey speculates on what might have happened to it. His story takes us into the 21st century when the guitar finds its way into the hands of a teenager whose journey thus far has not been a smooth ride. Unaware of its previous owner, the instrument transforms the young man’s life and opportunities. Of course, this joyous turnaround in fortunes would all be undone if anyone ever identified the guitar and knew its origin.
